fibromyalgiaFibromyalgia is a condition that affects millions of people, and unfortunately the conventional medicine world has yet to determine a cause.  Typically, people suffering from fibromyalgia are put on a regimen of pain relievers that often don’t work very well.

Functional medicine takes a different approach by looking at root causes and fixing these to allow the body to heal itself and restore vibrancy and health.  Amazingly, many of these root causes can be found in the gut and often have to do with various toxins that are circulating in the body for one reason or another.

I found this article that talks about several causes of fibromyalgia that conventional medicine would probably not even consider, but are most likely the culprits behind the chronic pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and brain fog that are commonly associated with fibromyalgia.

Gluten intolerance, candida overgrowth, and bacterial overgrowth are just a few of the causes that can  compromise the gut and intestinal walls, causing increased permeability that can allow toxins to enter the bloodstream and wreak havoc on your body.
