Whenever I do a wellness consultation with a patient, the conversation almost always turns to food at some point. The reason is that so many chronic conditions and diseases are either caused by or significantly impacted by the foods we eat on a regular basis.
Many people admit to knowing that they’re not eating the way they should but can’t or won’t make a change. Eating habits are difficult to change once they’ve become ingrained, and the constant availability of no-prep processed foods and snacks just becomes to easy to turn to in our fast-paced lives.
The basis of functional medicine is to create an environment that allows you to make fundamental changes physically, mentally, and spiritually that will allow your body to do what it is amazingly equipped and programmed to do – heal itself!
If you give your body what it needs it will reward you greatly with vibrant health. While your body is pretty good at compensating for the burdens you place upon it, you do need to take control and become an active participant in the health of your body by making the right choices about what you eat.
So how can you combat the bombardment of the not-good-for-you quick and easy food choices? The answer is to be proactive and prepare some go-to snack foods that are “clean.” It may take a little effort in the beginning to gather the ingredients and prep the food, but many of the ideas are actually very quick and easy to make.
Check out the link below to see a list of 40(!!) non-processed snacks. Now you have plenty of options to eat clean, even on the go.
Enjoy and be well.
