We get asked a lot about specific nutritional supplements for “anti-aging.” While the fountain of youth has not yet been discovered, there are a number of nutrients that studies have shown may have a positive impact on telomere length.
Telomeres are tiny units of DNA at the tip of every chromosome. As we age, these telomeres shorten, and the length of telomeres has been linked to how long we all live. Scientists have been searching for ways to halt the shortening and for ways to actually lengthen telomeres.
The focus of research has been to study an enzyme called telomerase, that actually has the ability to lengthen the telomere by synthesizing DNA from an RNA primer. While we wait for the research to develop, there are a number of nutrients you may want to consider that may help your body naturally maintain and promote telomere lengthening.
The following article discusses these nutrients in greater detail, but here’s the list:
1. Vitamin D
3. Ubiquinol (CoQ10)
5. Krill Oil
6. Vitamin K2
8. Polyphenol (Resveratrol, Cacao, Green Tea)
10. Vitamin B12
11. Curcumin (Turmeric)
12. Vitamin A
Enjoy the article, and remember to discuss any nutritional protocol with your healthcare provider and make sure you take pharmaceutical-grade nutritional supplements from a reputable source.
